I think that happens when they don't go all the way in to view the merchandise... they just tiptoe up and hunker down and peek around a corner to see it. That way, eBay doesn't know they were there 'cause they only *snuck a peek*...

It's possible. I run through Auction listings, and often just use the Watch link in the Search results (there's a search option to show it in results) to add it to my Watch list. I may not open the actual listing for days (or ever, if the price is now way too high).

I don't watch all that many listings, but never actually thought to put things on my watch list that way, before opening the listing to look it over first.

OTOH, I just noticed that one of my items has 1925 views and 0 watchers.

This particular items has been relisted several times and has never gotten more than 10 views. Perhaps this time a bot fell in love with it. Hahahaahaa!

I put things on my watchlist all the time from the search results page. Then I go back later to look at them. When I'm searching the newly listeds I don't want to waste time looking at things I may buy later meanwhile missing potential BIN bargains.

It's a good thing.

I've sold things that had zero views. Needless to say I don't believe the view counter.

For some reason, every single item I'm selling currently has "--" for views, but many have watchers. They had plenty of views before now, so I think there's a glitch right now with the view counts.
