Any Fossil Folks in this group?

I'm new to selling on Ebay! Hi everyone. I am not particularly interested in selling rocks although I am a rockhound and I have a large collection. I have come across small fossils before while hunting rocks, but one day I came across something special! I have kept it in a box for several years. I did ask for help and got it identified in a fossil group. Its a juvenile Tapir jawbone. I think its also rare for the area I found it in. Now I am considering selling it and wondered if I should even give it a go on Ebay, so I am asking for advice. Are there any weird rules about selling fossils?   I've seen specialty fossil websites sell similar items for $950 and up to nearly $2000. I've also considered trying to contact a dealer of fossils to see what they offer... Any advice out there?IMG_6061.JPG

Pretty cool; I have never sold any fossils on ebay so no experience there. Hopefully someone will come along and give some good advice. This group, like many here now, does not get much traffic unfortunately.

You're subject is new on the board, so need time for eyes to see it to offer you more information.

Of course any fossil that can be authenticated with documenation (date and ID, details) is going to command a decent price.

eBay's selling and buying rules are substantially changing. eBay's goal to be the no. 1 ecommerce site with new merchandise  free shipping and free returns, no questions asked (when possible).

Buyers and sellers love to watch and watch and watch for months on end. We've had dozens and dozens  of listings with double digit watchers and 10's of thousands of views.

We've removed several of those listings now. Maybe they will get a fresh start, maybe not.

If this fossil is possibly $100s to $1000s  and rare, I'd spend my efforts with well known reputable fossil collectors/dealers and go to them first.   Best of luck with your decision!

Thank you for taking time to respond! Yes, I think it's pretty cool. I'm sad there isn't more activity in this group. Thanks again!

Yes, I was kind of thinking maybe a specialist in the area would be better. There's no doubt as to what it is, but since I'm no archaeologicist or expert in the field that would probably be the way to go. Thanks!!
