Accepted a counteroffer and the item sold but apparently it didn't sell?

I sent a offer to a buyer, they countered and I accepted their offer.  Waiting for the email that says your item sold.  Never came.  Check orders, sold item isn't there under waiting for payment.  Page that says you accepted the offer lists quantity available as still 1.  Well I only had one of this item and it sold but sure enough, its still listed.  And no sign that it sold, but I am looking at the page that says I made the sale to the person.  What is going on here?

Until the item is paid for it stays active and anyone can still buy it at regular price.

Something new Ebay is trying.
