Is this what they call Amberina? They are deep red orange thick heavy glass..Also what were they used for?

Florence id's this shape as being made by Hocking (so before it merged with Anchor) in his book on Kitchen Glassware.

no not amberina, not really close. amberina is a transparent glass whose color changes gradually from bottom to top (amber to red usually). shapes are usually victorian not art deco as yours.

Close, 12/31/1937 according to Anchor Hocking Glass Museum website.
