Sorry about the poor photos. Just took quick ones with my phone. I'm fairly certain this is Japanese. Not sure if it's porcelain or pottery. Can anyone read the signature? I know it's fairly new. I put the signature both ways in case I have it upside down. Unfortunately, the person I knew who could read this is no longer around. Thanks!!!

From the way the strokes are incised into the clay, I think your first picture is correct.
I don't read Japanese so I could easily be wrong, but this is the best I could do with the translator:
全 男 山
All Man Mountain .... or ... Whole Man Mountain

Thanks. Wasn't sure if it was Japanese or Chinese. Many years ago I could probably have told you what this said. But, after 15 years, it doesn't come right back. LOL!

Hi!
The first photo shows the script correctly displayed. It's definitely Japanese and the maker's marking reads "Nishikiyama".
Translated by my wife who is from Japan. 錦山 (Nishikiyama).
Hope this helps!
