New Fall Seller Update: Managed Payments Now a Recommendation, Not a Requirement

Here is what EBAY is now saying in the Fall Seller Update about switching you to managed payments:

"When you receive a notification from us, we recommend you register before the deadline to avoid any interruption to your business."

Notice the change in terminology from "Required" to "Recommended" ?  They have apparently changed their approach to how they plan to ramrod Managed Payments.  They appear to at least be realizing at this point in time that they are asking people to do something that they really do not want to do.  Well, every step in the right direction is a step in the right direction.

If you don't sign up, the results will probably be the same as before.

If sellers want to continue to sell here, they might as well sign up when they can.

Before long, we'll all be on it.

Have a great day

We have $100k in inventory sitting in our warehouse.  My partner and I are discussing options for liquidating the entire inventory, among them setting everything out on our sidewalk (commercial building) for FREE.

We are not kidding.  Not willing to do a liquidation via Craigslist or 'yard sale', we don't have time.  We have other businesses that have been taking precedence in the past year.  About to finish our 21st year on eBay.

Enough is enough.  Our inventory has been the only thing that's forced us to stay in the game over the years.  At this point peace of mind is far more important than dealing with this continuous eBay **bleep**.

I refuse to sign up for this nonsense !! Ebay has made enough stupid changes and now the mangled payment system takes the cake. What ebay had done is forced total control and I am having none of it

They are using “recommend” as a soft pitch for you “have to “ join either now or when everyone is required to do so. There is NO choice in this matter. This is going to be the way payments are processed for everyone here eventually.

I wish you were right but I think you may have misunderstood something in the message !! Ebay is going to shove this down every ones throat. I just have not heard if they are doing this to the sellers in china yet !! I doubt it though !

It's not just the payments that are being changed.  Read the entire notice.  eBay is taking virtual FULL CONTROL of our businesses.  They have been slowly anesthetizing the entire community over the years.

Fees are killing us.  We ship a lot of large items and are charged 10% on our shipping fees alone.  Can't afford it.

eBay gives an example of fees on a $10k Rolex, saying it would be $408 or similar.  WE ARE CHARGED $1000 for a $10k item.  Why are watch sellers getting special treatment, they paying less than half in fees that we pay for the same amounts?  Enough is enough.

Can't afford it.  We made more money 20 years ago when we first started on eBay.

I am a newbe to this managed payments but have followed their guidelines. We are to be receiving payouts daily as I requested when I signed up and I still have not gotten my first payment from 3 days ago. My first purchase with MP the customer could not pay thru PP, eBay said there was a glitch- I was all set up to go, they confirmed it, now this "processing" note is all I get, I have not received my payment directly into my account as promised from eBay.

Can anyone shed any light on this issue I am having?

I’ve been in MP since late July / early August. Once buyer pays, it takes a few days of “processing” time. I have no idea why. Regardless, once you receive eBay’s “we’ve sent your payout” message, it’ll take a little time (depending on how your financial institution works) to hit your bank.
In my case, it’s same day or next day.
Yes, it’s different than PayPal, and yes, it’ll take a little getting used to, but I’ve had zero problems thus far.

No, this is an incorrect interpretation of the notice.
If you have been contacted about migrating to MP, then you will be migrated. This much is certain!

The recommendation is to get it done early, avoid any potential issues during signup, have time to fix potential issues, and most importantly, avoid losing the ability to list or re-list and, have access to sales (perhaps not having sales at all).

I ran into an issue with them not being able to ‘electronically’ verify the name on my bank account. I simply uploaded a copy of a statement showing my business name and account number and blacked out everything else. Worked perfectly.

The entire process, once submitted, took a couple of weeks for eBay to finalize.

Anyway, don’t drag your feet thinking it’ll be business as normal if you miss the deadline.

Hey, if you’re going to dump $100K of inventory for “free”, then tell me when and where to bring the truck(s). If you have loading docks and forklift, even better!

If ebay is paying us daily,  how do they collect their fees?  Are the fees and shipping cost taken out of the purchase price daily?
