Feature request: Way to redeem gift cards

Make it possible to redeem gift cards to your account. I am only able to redeem a gift card if i add an item into my cart. This doesn't work for auction items that don't give you this ability and also wont let you redeem gift card after auction is over because it forces automatic payments.
