What style is this antique light fixture.  The glass globe is covered with small spikes.  How would I describe that?  thanks!

I would say it looks like a vintage Hollywood Regency style ceiling light fixtures.

It is a "Diamond Point" glass pattern.  The style might be called Hollywood Regency, among other terms.
