Needlepoint, Crewelwork pillow

Does anyone know when this style of needlework was commonly done? What would the era of this pillow be?

Needle point is done wtih special threads in tiny stitches.  Crewel is larger yarns and longer stitches.

That's a fairly classic floral pattern.  The burgundy was a popular decorative color in the 1940s/1950s but popular again later.  The pink piping and the slightly brighter palette makes me think later.  Please post a photograph of the backing.  That would be easier to date.

That is needlepoint. I would say 2nd half of the 20th century.

I have one like this that my Aunt did.     I just had to check my closet as it is tucked away there.    She bought it from Elsa Williams in Townsend Ma.  in the late 70's or early 80's just after Elsa Williams sold the business.    The flowers were filled in and she just filled in the background.    

It was not an Elsa Williams kit,  but a way to sell the wool yarn.

She hated every stitch and called the whole process boring.

Here is a picture of the back of the pillow. Do you know what type of stitching this is on the front of the pillow also?

As I said in my previous reply, it is called needlepoint.

I would agree with the 70s to 80s date. The backing fabric looks like polyester upholstery material.
