24 April 2022- Greetings to all coin & token collectors, where-ever you might be. (Note: This coin is NOT for sale). Another neat item added to
the Heron's small accumulation of Central & East Europa items and a
nice item for #594:
The coin: 20mm dia. Round. Zinc. Grades Fine+.
Obverse: Fir tree as COA at center.
Legend: NEUSTADT im SCHWARZWALD 1917.
Reverse: Large '10' in center. Word PFENNIG below the 10.
Note: The fir tree in Coat of Arms has a squirrel in upper right hand
portion of the tree when viewing the coin. Heron did NOT know
that there was a squirrel in tree when item was purchased. Heron
used his 10X mag glass to check out the tree and discovered the
squirrel. Then confirmed the info with a heraldry site. This is
Heron's first coin with a squirrel in tree. We never know what
interesting kinds of things we can find in this great hobby!
Mint: Chr. Lauer, Nurnberg.
Issuing Authority Kingdom of Bavaria.
Mintage 1917 = 20,800.
Numista Rarity Index = 80.
Note: This coin is NOT FOR SALE, nor will it be offered for sale. This
coin is now a part of Heron's personal accumulation and will
not be sold.

Langenornach, and Schwarzenbach-Waldau.

Swiss border in what is now the state of Baden-Wurttemberg.
This coin is NOT for sale.

**Recently el Heron mentioned that he would be on the 'lookout'
for Alemannic towns that were "Neustadts''. And the search will
continue. Great fun acquiring a coin with a Fir Tree Coat of Arms
and with a Squirrel in the tree. Unusual for sure! Another good
reason to enjoy the fun of coin & token collecting. A great hobby
to enjoy whilst sheltering at home per orders of Gov. Gav.**
NOTE: This coin/token is NOT for sale.

how many of your coins are dated 1917? seems like a lot...

Good question! A quick count of records shows 1917 leading with 37+.
Second place is 1918 with 33+. (The '+' is for the few that might not have
been recorded. Several times Heron has found a coin here that was not recorded on any of the record keeping 'papers'). Apparently 1917 was a
very good year for 'different' issues! (There are only a few 1916 in the
small accumulation). Fun hobby for sure!
