Did you mean:

Marchtrenk an der Traun River. WWI POW. 50 H. 1915 #626.

12 Sep 2022: Greetings to all coin & token collectors, where-ever you

might be.  (NOTE: This token is NOT for sale).  Heron's 2nd World War I

Prisoner of War camp token with full date (1915).  A super nice 'find' and

although not a cheepie, it was available.  This is a genuine 'token'.

The token: 23mm dia. Round. Zinc. Grades Fine+.

Obverse: Upper 1/2 of token has large "K" in modern font design.

Lower 1/2 of token has small GL in modern font design.

Below the GL is full date 1915.

Note: KGL = Kriegsgefangenenlager.

Kriegsgefangenenlager = prisoner of war camp.

Note: This token is NOT for sale. It is now part of Heron's accumulation

             and will stay there.

Reverse:  Large '50' in square design.

Word MARCHTRENK below the large '50' & also in square.

Note: Numista has very good photo of this token.

Note: This token is NOT for sale.

Mintage = 23,000.

Numista Rarity Index = 93.  (somewhat scarce).

Marchtrenk is located in upper central Austria on River Traun.

Marchtrenk was built to house Italian & Russian prisoners.

1910 population of Marchtrenk = 2,467.  Probably a bit 'obscure'.

**A second dated POW camp token from World War I.  A great treat

for an ancient coin & token collector!   The token is 'worn' but has no

major 'faults' such as scratches or cuts onnit.  We just never know when

we will find that 'special item' to add to our collections.  However,

sheltering at home per orders of the Gov has proved to be a 'good

thing' for el Heron.  Finding interesting items to acquire.  This is a

great hobby for a lifetime!  And especially during the plague.**

Note: This interesting token is NOT for sale.
