Did you mean:

Ludwigshafen am Rhein- 1 Pfennig- 1918-Zinc- #571.

9 Jan 2022- Greetings to all coin & token collectors, where-ever you might be.  (Note: This coin is NOT for sale, nor is it being offered for sale

in this chatboard 'post'.  This IS the coin & paper money chat board and that is what we do here.  Chat about coins, tokens, medallions, & paper money).   This Ludwigshafen 1 Pfennig coin/token is an interesting item

and a good item for #571:

Coin/token is 18.0mm dia.  Zinc. Grades VF.  Shape of coin/token is

square with 'rounded' corners.  (el Heron believes that this 1 Pfennig

coin/token is his FIRST for denomination of 1 Pfennig.  Heron cannot

remember ever having previously acquired a 1 Pfennig Kriegsgeld coin/token issued during World War One).

Obverse: At center is the 'logo' of the private company Badische Anilin

& Soda Fabrik.

Note: The international corporation BASF continues operations.  It is

a large corporation.  It was founded in Ludwigshafen in 1865.

Obv: 'legend': BADISCHE ANILIN & SODA FABRIK 1918 LUDWIGSHAFEN

am RH.

Reverse:  Large '1' at center.  ERSATZGELD above the '1' and  Pfennig

below the '1'.   Note: Ersatzgeld means substitute money.

Mint: These coin/tokens were minted in the BASF 'workshops' located

in their own factory.  (This is another 'first' for el Heron and his small

accumulation of coins).

Numista Rarity Index= 74.  (The 1 Pfennig issue has a higher index

number than does the 10 Pfennig of the same 'series' of coin/tokens).

Note: This coin/token IS NOT FOR SALE, nor is it being offered for sale

             in this chatting board post.

Note: Ludwigshafen translates to Port of Ludwig.  It is named in honor

of King Ludwig I of Bavaria.

1st Century BC: Romans built a fort at this location on the Rhein.

1606- Another fort was built at this location to 'protect' the city of

            Mannheim.

1844 - Port renamed to Ludwigshafen.

1859 - Ludwigshafen officially named as a 'city'.

**Another interesting small denomination coin/token because it is

a wartime issue, it was issued by a private corporation,  it was minted

by the corporation in the corporation's own 'workshops' (machine shop

most likely), coin is an 'odd shape', Ludwigshafen is a 'river city', and coin has a neat Coat of Arms style company 'logo'.  Always something interesting to 'find' in this hobby.  Especially whilst sheltering 'at home' per orders of Gov Gav.**
