I'm seeking any info or help on a 1984 Lincoln 1 cent with a possible error on the reverse.

Hi I need help to try and identify this 1984 Lincoln 1 cent, to try and find out if this is an error or not. Above the United States of America on the reverse it seems like there is a rough line running through the top of the words "the United States of America". I don't know much about coins but it looks different and I'm seeking anyone's advice about it. I did compare it to other 1984 1 cents and it's not on those coins.And  I thank you for all your help. If you know the name of that anomaly please let me know.

@raaphds

I can't answer your question about the penny but I'm shocked that ebay allowed someone who hasn't had any activity in over a year to list a $30K item especially when you never sold anything in that price range and most sales were < $50.

It's really none of your business but it's been on for over 2 years

i suppose it's technically an error but it has no value...

your card seems to be a bit overpriced... ones graded by the other company look to sell in the $300-500 range graded a 1... i saw one graded 2.5 that sold about 10x that amount... if you got it regraded with a numeric grade you might have better luck...

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not on hereto talk about my card. Just the coin!

Hard to tell from the pictures but it could be a die crack or just a rough planchet. It is worth a cent. Nothing special. FYI the majority of coins claiming to be errors on eBay are not errors at all. They are inexperienced people thinking they hit a gold mine or someone trying to make a quick buck off an inexperienced buyer. In many cases an error coin might not be worth much more than without. It would have to be significant and recognized by collectors to actually increase value substantially. Spend it when you need a cent or two.

Thanks for the reply. I doubt that I'll ever be needing to spend a cent or two.

I have over 17,000 positive feedback and I've been on eBay for 24 years. I've sold over a million dollars worth of items on ebay. And I pay for my store every month. So I think I've earned the right to sell anything that I want to on eBay. And if you have a problem with that contact eBay.
