Promoted Listings

When I am shopping on eBay, is there a way to tell that what I am seeing is an item the seller is using Promoted Listings to....... promote??

No, not that I am aware of.

Yes, the listing says 'Sponsored' in the bottom left corner before you click on it. 

But; all 'promoted' (sponsored) means is that the seller is paying more to have that item shown on the first page or at least attempting to (promoted/sponsored are paid by a percentage of the sale and the seller basically is 'bidding' (paying higher percentage) against other sellers to try to get to the #1 spot on the 1st page, or as close as....vs. being on the 36th page.
