Page Flourishes

What do you call the illustrated flourishes at the bottom of an old book page?  They were cut from old books - old laid paper with words with long s's printed of the versos.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Page Flourishes

Love to know more myself.  I thought flourishes were simply decorative.  Can you include an image of the pasted ones?

Re: Page Flourishes

I can't post an image at the moment.  I need to buy a new camera.  They are decorative - it is an interesting collection of them.  I figure they have a name; I think every part of a book is called something.

Re: Page Flourishes

I've always seen them described as "decorations" in bibliographic data on copyright pages, to separate them from illustrations and/or plates.

Now I really can't wait to see them. Are you sure you're not just pulling my leg?

Re: Page Flourishes

Decorations sound right.  I found this online:

Re: Page Flourishes

Sorry to be off topic, but do you still have the 1928 The Aviator Magazine from Temple, Texas? If so, I’d be interested. I saw your post about it in an earlier thread but I couldn’t comment on it. Let me know if there is a way I can get in touch. Thx!
