Binding: Brilliant full leather binding of Turquoise Blue polished calf. Hand-bound & stamp-signed by Sangorski & Sutcliffe of London for the J.L. Hudson Company. Original decorative slipcase is present, matching the volume's endpapers. 5 raised spine bands with gilt accents, as well as elaborate gilt designs in spine compartments. Two contrasting leather spine labels, both a brickish-red in color. Three gilt borders on the front and back boards, with each corner anchored with a gilt rosette. Title in gilt on front board. Elaborate gilt dentelles. AEG. Decorative endpapers, which remain free from Ex Libris plates and free from signatures. These endpapers match the paper which covers the original cardboard slipcase which was issued with the volume. The volume measures 8" x 6". The volume is in Fine condition, with the only exception a small faded spot on the rear board; right at the joint.

Description: Sixteen tipped-in color illustrations with captions on tissue guards, all Very Fine; b&w map of Peter Pan's Kensington Gardens at end of text. Peter Pan first appeared in Barrie’s 1902 novel The Little White Bird. Following the successful debut of the 1904 play about Peter Pan, Barrie's publishers extracted chapters 13–18 of previous book and republished them as this volume alongside the celebrated Rackham illustrations."

Condition: Blue cloth-bound hardcover with title to spine, fading to spine, rubbing to spine, corners & edges, STRAIGHT, CLEAN & TIGHT in GOOD CONDITION, with small bookshop sticker to fr.paste-down, facing page 150 illustration is loose (all still intact), at title page it looks loose to spine, but it's not, slight foxing/age-toning to eprs & to a few outside page edges, without dustjacket.

"This is Tom Tracey, published by Frank F.Lovell & Company, New York, in their 'Leather-Clad" series. This is a softcover with a slightly pebbled design finish meant to simulate a kind of leather look.

The author's name is listed as Arthur Lee Putnam, which was a pseudonym of Horatio Alger.

The book shows some rubbing on the edges and a small crease at the upper corner of the front cover. The front cover is tender but still attached. The prior owner name is stamped on the upper edge of the front cover and is also stamped several times on the blank back side of the frontis. The pages show some darkening due to age.

Quite scarce. "
