Would it not have been a good idea for the moderators to have merged these two threads, to avoid the risk of confusion?

I cannot find the author of this although it says original 1580's on the back. Does anyone know if it has any value and if it is original as the back claims? Back says Claudio Tolomeo and author Jean Meryon 1580's please see pic. Any info on value or if its real would be appreciated.

Your best bet with this would be the BookSELLERS board.
There is a gentleman who posts regularly to that board who is EXTREMELY well versed in exactly this sort of thing.

Whatever is rightly done, however humble, is noble.

hmmmm........a telehone number?
No phones in the 16th Century..

The telephone number I believe is from the library it was obtained from in the 50's or 60's. I do not think it has anything to do what is framed inside. Thanks I will post it on the other thread for sure:)

From what source did the 1580 year come from ?

there's NO other solutiom than to unframe and show good pics of the papers - dotted/lined etc.. especially to the gentleman on the bookseller's board.
I personally don't trust anything that comes out of an Italian shop.

The pictures uniquely combine vast file size with lack of focus, making them pretty useless, but one page from a late 16th C book is of no significant value. It looks like someone broke up a French book in the 1970s and flogged off the pages one at a time, a highly regrettable practice.
I'd no more attribute a value to it than I would attribute a value to a square inch of Maralyn Monroe's skin if some ghoul had stolen it and was selling it off piece by piece.
No doubt others would disagree.

Back stamp from Italy Library where I believe was aquired in the 60's to 80's plus or minus. Not to sure but any help is appreciated if it is real or duplicated and if it has any value or if many were made or if the book is scarce.

This might help identify the astrologer..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ptolemy.
However, I'm doubtful of the date of 1580's.
Interesting that it's printed in French.?

Only from the source on the back stamp which I have no idea about. I also doubt it has great value but you never know so it is worth finding out about. I can take better pictures if needed. I pulled the back out and it has writting on the reverse side also.
