price gouging

Why is it that eBay allows sellers to price gough by charging exuberant prices for shipping . Some of it makes you think, **bleep**!

Re: price gouging

Shipping can be hard to judge, since it is based on distance, not just size and weight. A large even light package can go from $20 from a seller near you, to $60 for one just a few more states away.

Sellers are expected to set reasonable shipping charges that cover their costs.  Still, some sellers still have the old mindset of setting an item price low and the shipping high.  Remove this advance by sorting by item+shipping price low or high instead of best match.

Price gouging applies to specific items during a declared emergency - if you feel the seller is price gouging, use the report link on the item.
