The Online / Offline Indication

Hello.  My community home page indicates whether or not I'm online.  A green dot for online, and a red dot for offline.  I've found that most members' pages are like that, but from time to time I come across one that doesn't have any indication at all. 

I've looked under "My settings" and couldn't find an option that would select this.  Of course, that doesn't mean it isn't there, it just means I couldn't find it.  Can somebody enlighten me, please?

There is a setting under the community profile for privacy that includes an option to hide online status:

I thought I recalled seeing that setting before, but I was not sure if the setting was still around, so I had to actually hunt for it a bit.
