Disappearing photos

I use an iPad to list my items.  I take photos and add them.  I have been doing it exactly the same way for years.  Lately, I add photos, and they disappear.  This is happening all the time, and it is making me a bit frustrated.  (An understatement.)

is anyone else experiencing this or does anyone have an idea of why this is happening?
