Buyer problem/defect

I sold an item to Canada and the buyer requested a discount, I told the buyer that I wasn't able to apply the discount because it went through the Global shipping program, I told the buyer to cancel the order and buyer agreed, now the problem is that the buyer is telling me that they cannot cancel the order on there side despite numerous attempts through emails explaining how to do it and are asking me to cancel the order on my side, I do not want to cancel the order due to the fact that I would get a defect and don't want to go through the process of contacting ebay to remove it, item has not been paid for yet so what other advice can I give the buyer or just wait it out if the buyer does not pay, my concern again is the defect, please advise......:)

You are responsible for cancelations. And, a buyer requested cancelation is easy.

Here's how:

eBay states that Buyer Requested Cancelations are monitored. Do not use the Buyer Requested option if you can not or will not ship an item or the item is out of stock.

A buyer requested cancelation can be opened and closed without damage to your selling account and the item can be relisted in a shorter amount of time.

Simply go to the Resolution Center and select "The buyer asked to cancel the order, or there's an issue with the buyer's address." If the buyer has already paid for the purchase, they will receive a refund and you will receive a Final Value Fee refund.

IMPORTANT: If your buyer cancels a purchase, they can not leave negative or neutral Feedback or low detailed seller ratings about the transaction and you will not receive a defect.
