Help please what is this?

As title got this from my parents loft today it belonged to their parents my grandparents! We are thinking it might be some kind of foot warmer or room warmer as the lid lifts off and the inner bowl with the handle lifts out the frame work!!  It's apx 18 inches high and 15 inches diameter! would love to know what it is when and where it's from and does it have any value?

I would think it a cooking/braiser. Search antique brass 3 legged braiser and items like this start showing up.

Yes,  you put coals in it and set it under the table to keep your feet and legs warm while you eat.
