Buyer started refund request based on packaging he did not like

So I sold a couple of Apple 2013 Mac SSDs. The buyer received the items and started immediatelly a return request, based upon he did not like the packaging and could not be arsed to test if the items would even work. The refund reason he selected was "defective/does not work". He told me this via eBay messaging, so I have that as "proof". Word for word.

Do I have to bite into the sour apple and take that or do I have any rights her? I have sold already over 20 of these SSDs to other buyers, with same packaging, no one complained.

Thanks

Re: Buyer started refund request based on packaging he did not like

This could go either way. You have no returns, but sounds like a remorse return because of packaging issue. You would have a 50/50 shot with calling a eBay rep. One will escalate and you would get an unresolved strike, pay for refund, and the buyer will get to keep the item. One would see it as remorse and close in your favor.
Your choice.

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.
