Please help to identify the handpainted doll head in the frame, also the signatures in the back of the frame.

To draw a firm line under my nonsense... I CAN see the creepy figure. It is totally obvious and unmissable. I just couldn't resist playing along with the first comment on the thread (which I'm quite sure was meant as a joke).

What comment?

@maxine*j wrote:It looks like two signatures. If so, I'd guess that one person did the manipulated-photograph hallwa, and the other person did the doll., then both signed and dated the back of the frame. Is that right?
If you read aloud that signature in a dark hallway during either of those dates, something’s bound to happen.
OMG I just realized that TODAY IS 8/10!!!

I'm relieved to be unable to read the signature(s)!

I was having a problem with some rogue Beanie Babies on another thread. Related or??? You be the judge.

The back of the creepy girl is (the hallway) print, the only doll head is handpainted with real human hair.
It is scary and creepy art, kind of I don't like it either.
I just want to know who is Artist.

So nobody else sees Richard?

I did I did, until Maxine mention two names and then I saw Paul Land with the final L in Paul and the first L in Land being the same, artistic license. Richard sounds like a good bet. Does the last name start with H and end ly something like Hennely

Yes, I was thinking along those lines - but now you bring up Maxine's double signature proposal again, I'm wondering if the "H" might actually be a "J. C..." (as in J. Connally or something?). So maybe two signatures after all (which would rule out Richard). 🤔

My first thought was a J for the second name. Then I remembered a genealogy problem I had for 20 years where a name was said to be Gloggert based on a written church record. This name shows up in no records which led me to think the name was done in script which was being misread. I decided the Gl was really an H which made more sense when looking at other records. So now I have a slight bias when see something which can be an H

Over the 8/10: first name Gerhard?

Ohhh... that's more promising than Richard. I couldn't make the first letter look like an R, but the other letters seemed to fit. Never thought of Gerhard.

Last name Hammerly? There is an artist by that name, Gerhard Hammerly. I thought that the first number of 8 of 10 (made) and the second number was the date (11/17), but just my guess.

I can't find any trace of an artist named Gerhard Hammerly, are you sure you have that right?
8/10 as a limitation number is a good thought.
