It is very annoying, and offensive to everyone, that ebay harasses buyers with "Offers from sellers", when it is really an ebay robot, that jacks up the price, and then gives you a discount of the price increase. It puts a sour taste in the mouths of everyone involved. Wasn't this made illegal in the US recently?

eBay cannot do what you are accusing them of doing, since the company does not have any products they own for sale. eBay does not set the price seller's ask for their items. Each individual seller decides what price they will ask for their items. The sellers pay a fee to ebay for the Sponsored items to have offers sent to buyers who open their sponsored listings, and it is the seller who decided how much of a discount will be in offers that potential buyers will receive. eBay is only the messenger, not the one who sets prices.

Yes, it is illegal for a "store" to raise the price on items, then offer a discount that is the amount the item was originally selling for. eBay is not a store though.

Yes, they do. Why are you lying?
How are they not a store?
Just 2 more reasons not to use this worthless and dying scam site....

Your welcome.

eBay itself is simply a venue for sellers to list items for sale. eBay has no merchandise for sale.
eBay has no way to jack up the price on anything.
Can you show us an example where eBay (not the seller) increased the price on an item?
Don't exactly understand your post. Sorry.

You can opt out of receiving offers from sellers in My eBay: Account: Communication Preferences: Buying Activity.

No, eBay is NOT a store. eBay stocks no items, nor is there an eBay warehouse where items are stocked.
Again, eBay is simply a venue, a place where sellers can list their items for sale and buyers can purchase those items. When the buyer pays the seller (not eBay), the seller then ships the item to the buyer. No employee of eBay ever sees or handles any item that's listed for sale on eBay.
And it's not nice to accuse anyone of lying, when your accusation is patently false.

Don't worry too much.
If you happen to try to purchase something from my eBay selling ID, you will not be successful.

As @mudshark61369 pointed out, eBay does not own or sell any product. That does not mean they are not condoning the practice of which you speak by sellers that use it. . You can read more about the topic here:

@ittybitnotsaid: eBay does not own or sell any product.
You are wrong. eBay sells shipping supplies.

Ebay is no more a 'store' than your local flea market. As soh.maryl points out it is merely a selling platform that brings buyers and sellers together. I've never received an offer from ebay, though I've received many from sellers on ebay.

A quick search showed various sellers listing and selling eBay branded shipping supplies. Can you post a link to which one is the correct "sold by eBay" store? Thanks.

What is that supposed to mean?
