Does anyone know what this thing is? I picked it up at a garage sale and they could only tell me that it always set on their Great-grandmother's table and the mallet makes noise sliding it along the interior ridges. There is a name engraved at the top that looks like "McDudley & Sons", then a very long word (maybe 20 letters) underneath that I cannot read, then on the 3rd line it says Mas??. It is all wood (except the nose is metal) and about 20" x 2". As always, your help is so appreciated. Peggy

Just got an answer from an antique dealer. Says it is a wooden shuttle for a power textile loom. Wilkinsonville, Mass. Thanks for looking.
