Hi! Looking for some help determining what model rifle (or shotgun?) this stock is for. Is it long or short action? Also possibly its age. Any help would be great! Thanks a bunch!

it is a Remington mdl. 700 BDL,long action,24 lines pr. inch skip line checkering-right hand.not a magnum cal.,likely early 80s -possible a .270,30-06

The buttplate looks like those found on a Remington 1889 10 GA. That's all I know.

Shotgun doesn't usually have a Monte Carlo stock. That's to a rifle, a good guess (and that's all it is) is for model 700. Short or long action, no guess on my part.

well it does matter on caliber-such as 7mm is long action & .243 is short action-the circa is also revelant-early models were CUT checkering-later models were STAMPED.
