Engraving on Railroad Dining Car Silver

Hi all,

I have this lone wolf railroad dining car silver soldered soup tureen by Reed & Barton. The engraving says "J.C.R.R."  I've never heard of this railroad and can't find anything anywhere on it. Any help? (Will post on the Railroad forum if I don't get answers here.) Thank you!

Re: Engraving on Railroad Dining Car Silver

There are (were) many silver cos. in Mass. A lot of them are down in the So. East area in Attleboro and around.

Some places are named after their famous heritage (The Silver City Galleria in Taunton, Mass., Silver City Toyota in Raynham)

Cos. like Watson/Newell/Mechanic, Frank Whiting, Whiting & Davis, Saart Bros., Reed & Barton (Taunton) are in that area.

Watson/Newell/Mechanic had to be a huge man'f. I seem to have more of their spoons than others. They merged w/ Wallace Silver (CT) in 1955.

Then Shepard Co. in Melrose near Boston, Lunt Silver out in Greenfield, MA  and Towle Silver in Newburyport, MA.

I was collecting old Sterling Silver souvenir spoons and I started looking up the hallmarks to find the makers and locations. Then, when you dig deeper, you might hit the name of the pattern. A lot of these spoons have an engraved year and name on them like "Martha 09" (for 1909)
