What can we do when the USPS is losing packages at an alarming rate?

I have a buyer in Miami who now has two packages missing.  I insured and had a signature request on the one I sent him.  It said out for delivery and disappeared.  He went to the PO and they told him sorry it was not insured...  He went home and plugged in tracking to see it was both insured and had signature required.  

This is in the same place where the post master general had sorting machines dismantled!  

EBay has a large community.  What can we do to assure what we shipped is actually being received by the buyer?

We are experiencing the same problems and this is a huge concern. We have 75 parcels out currently that are not delivered. Some have been 30 days "in transit".

Nothing, or maybe using a different service?
