Bad seller! What to do?

I purchased two listings of 100 boxes each, small shipping boxes.  I did my due diligence to make sure I was buying from a U.S. seller, which is my preference.

Boxes arrived in a timely manner via FedEx in a big shipping box.  The big shipping box was damaged and about 30 of the boxes were missing.

I contacted the buyer directly... didn't immediately open a case (as a seller myself, I appreciate when buyers let me resolve stuff without Ebay's involvement.)  I sent an email with details and photos of the number of boxes missing and the damage to the shipping box. (BTW my opinion was that the seller did not properly package the items and it was their fault and not FedEx, but I kept that opinion to myself.)

Seller didn't respond to my message so I reluctantly opened a case and sent a second, then a third, then a fourth email, asking that they just please send me the missing boxes.  I got one response from all of my emails which was a one word "OK" (WTH?)  I had/have no idea what the OK was in response to.  I also got an Ebay automated resposne that the seller had approved my return and I could print the label.  Which was the last thing I wanted to do... I need the f*ing boxes and I don't want to return them.

But now I'm all beat down and still no response from the seller so I figured I'm gonna return them.  I go to print the label and it is for a FIRST CLASS MAIL return.  Now this is for 170 boxes.  They cannot go first class.  Why are they sending me a first class mail return label?

I've given up trying to get anything out of the seller.  Do you think its worth my time trying to do anything with this through Ebay?  The thought of trying to go through all of this with an Ebay representative gives me a headache.

By the way, when I looked at my Ebay payment to the seller, I see the company is a company with an Ohio address.  And they are also a "top rated seller" lol.

There's a chance you may not have return the boxes if you smear on the hand sanitizer before your reach out to eBay through a private message on Facebook or Twitter with your name, email, and zip code.

If your talkative seller never provides an appropriate label* then eBay will force a refund no return needed.

*the First-Class Return Service label you have now will ship up to 70 pounds, but your post office might not accept it (already happened), or might send it back to you before it leaves your city (already happened)

Re: Bad seller! What to do?

whoaaaa 20 years as a seller and never knew first class would do up to 70 lbs!!!  Just the same I'll try the Twitter trick.  That sound so much more doable than their "customer service" line.   THANKS for the input!!!

First Class RETURN SERVICE labels are valid on packages up to 70 lbs. First Class Package labels only go up to 13 oz purchased at retail or 15.99 oz with online commercial labels.

GLORIOUS!

Confused about the switch to eBay discounted shipping? Read this discussion to make an informed decision about opt in / opt out.

@susanfy

If you use the "first class return service" label (not the same restrictions as a 1st Class shipping label) to return the item, the next thing that you will face with a seller is your refund will be for only 50% of your purchase price.  You will need to appeal to eBay to get the remaining 50%.

The problem there can be trying to get a USPS employee to understand that😊

My 5# "1st Class return label" item went back to the sender without any problem.

Put it on the counter. It was scanned. Away it went.
