Shipping refund

I shipped an item and it was damaged when it reached the buyer. I have no problem refunding the cost of the item BUT am I obligated to refund the initial shipping cost too? I know I have to pay return shipping if I want it back. Any ideas?

Yes, you are obligated to refund their initial shipping charges.

Did the buyer pay shipping? Why should they be out money for receiving a damaged item?

Refund and file a damaged postal claim, if possible.
