Regarding ebay not allowing feedback for nonpaying buyers

I had two auctions that ended Saturday with buyers that never paid. I don't understand how eBay doesn't allow negative feedback in order to alert other sellers.

Block the bidders...and just let it go.

Always check bidders in an open auction to see if they have any feedback or bid retractions.

A seller can block bidders during an auction. Although some bidders might have 0 feedback I never had a winning bidder paid who had 0 feedbacks

Welcome to eBay.  You cannot leave false negatives for customers who don't pay.  Doing this can jeopardize your account and eBay will pull the comment as well.

You might consider refraining from using auctions style listings, DO NOT post best offers either, because that's also a scam magnet and list all your items at a fixed BUY IT NOW price with immediate payment required checked off.  It's the only way to avoid these types. You get more serious buyers.

As others have advised, block these people from further taking up your time.  It's the route to go.

Sorry for your frustration.

Sellers have been unable to leave negative or neutral ratings for buyers since May 20, 2008.

The way to "warn" other sellers is to cancel the transaction based on nonpayment, so buyers get their strike and will be automatically blocked by sellers who have set up their Buyer Requirements. This automatic block is much more effective than leaving negs would be, since it spares sellers from having to look into each bidder's feedback profile, which isn' even possible for last-minute bids.

Are you not cancelling, stating "buyer did not pay" when that happens?

Are the auctions you are seeing npbs on the pathetically low priced auctions or the big ticket auctions - which appear to be real auctions.

The use of $.99 start auctions is not appropriate for all of your items.

The use of auctions is not appropriate for all of your items.

Sports card buyers, especially for graded cards are often very frugal and will find another card to buy at a lower price within a 7 day auction period.

Every listing requires some thought as to how to sell the item, or you will leave money on the table, or have wasted your effort on an npb.

Some sellers accept the idea of block the bidder and move on. It can be the right choice for those sellers.

If you are canceling those non payment buyers after 4 days of non payment and giving then unpaid item strikes, then you are already helping other sellers that have non payers blocked who have at least 2 unpaid item strikes in 12 months.

Ebay is, for some reason, worried about running people off ebay who don't have any money.

Regarding ebay not allowing feedback for nonpaying buyers

It helps to remember that every single transaction on Ebay is a Business transaction.  It is not a personal transaction, not even if you are a casual seller.  If sellers can remember than and not take certain things as a personal affront on them, it would really help them.

Leaving negative FB on a buyer is simply BAD business.  Which is why Ebay took that option away from sellers over 15 years ago.  Before that sellers used negative FB as a threat to some buyers in an effort to get them to do things the way the seller wanted.  Or it was used as a retaliatory action.  Or any number of of reasons for sellers behaving badly.  And all these sellers were doing was hurting themselves and the entire site.

We need buyers to survive here.  We need more buyers to continue to survive and grow our businesses.  If buyers are fearful as to what a seller might do to them in regards to feedback, they will be reluctant to shop here.  And that isn't just bad buyers, a large amount that would not come here to shop would be excellent buyers but the fear of the unknown would keep them away.

There is a larger picture here other than a single seller wanting to disparage a buyer that has not completed the transaction.

Besides, if you have your Buyer Requirements set up to the strictest possible, if a buyer has 2 unpaid strikes in the past 12 months, they won't be able to purchase from you.  If all sellers more actively filed their Cancellations for Non Payment, it would help us all.  Buyers get a message on their screen when they have too many strikes and can't purchase from any given seller telling them they are blocked from purchasing.

So Make sure you have your Buyer Requirements set to 2 unpaid in 12 months and make sure you file all Cancellations for non payment that come your way.  It will help you and it will help sellers overall.
