Ebay now thinks that everyone here is a business and not just selling their collection or what they have!  They take a huge amount on the listing and then even take more when we charge actual shipping what a bunch of scumbags!!  then when a Karen wants their $ back for no reason they will not take a call from the seller just the buyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are selling you are doing business so yes,  it makes you a business.

Selling fees are based on the TOTAL amount a buyer pays. eBay is very transparent about their fees.
I incorporate my seller fees and shipping into the price of the items I sell.

then when a Karen wants their $ back for no reason they will not take a call from the seller just the buyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Returns are part of  doing business. Your no returns policy doesn't mean no refunds and will be trumped by eBays Money Back Guarantee in a not as described return.
No returns can be declined by you only for remorse reasons like didn't like it, changed my mind.

If your buyer opens a NAD return request you as the seller should handle the return yourself because if you have eBay do it you will not like it. They will 100% of the time side with the buyer, give a full refund out of your funds AND let them keep the item. Plus give you a defect for cases closed without a seller resolution.

So it's only a particular subset of the American population with whom you are having problems?

How are you able to perceive that distinction?

If the buyer opens an item not as described case, even though you are certain the case is bogus, your best response is to send the buyer a prepaid return label, and to refund in full when you get the item back.

Otherwise, if you do not respond  or try to fight the case, you will almost certainly discover that the  buyer has been refunded by eBay from your funds and has been told to keep the item.

If you've not read the MBG, now would be a good time.

You are not expected to let them keep the item.

When a case is filed, you select "return for a refund" and issue a return shipping label.

When you get the item back you refund the buyer.

If you choose to fight the return or deny the return and do not issue a shipping label that is telling eBay and the buyer that you don't want the item back.

There is no point speaking with eBay.  You can't "change their minds" about the return process.  It's the money back guarantee that is offered with buying on eBay.  If the buyer gets an item that is not as described they can return it to the seller for a full refund, including return shipping.

It is not always fair or reasonable but it is the way eBay works.  The only thing you will get if you try to fight it is the loss of the item because the buyer is still going to get their money back.

Here is a link to read about the money back guarantee.

Are the shysters buyers? Sellers?

You appear to have several hundred listings on this ID, so it's not bad enough for you to leave?

@kimk141 ,

I have to respectfully disagree with you.

Just curious if you really believe what you state why are you still selling here?

Since you don't accept returns, I'm guessing the buyer filed an INAD?

No need to contact Ebay, accept the return and provide return shipping before Ebay refunds them from your account and lets them keep the item.

Have a great day

If you are selling you are doing business so yes,  it makes you a business.

Not true, sellers can also be investors and selling as an investor does not make you a business. Many collectors sell as investors not as a retail/reseller business.

That is correct, so lets rephrase this:

In Ebay's terms of agreement that we must agree to before we sell our first item it is clearly explained that ebay considers selling here a business, and that all sellers will be considered as running a business anytime they sell on ebay.

We don't have to like it, but we did agree to it. When a member of ebay first indicates their wish to sell here ebay informs them that they will consider this selling as a business, and at this point the member has the opportunity to agree or opt out. And if you do not wish to be considered as a business then you can not sell here.

Re: EBay will not talk to the seller! Will not take calls. Takes your money and runs!! Ebay SUCKS!

What makes you think you're expected to let the buyer keep the item?

Several people  here have outlined the procedure in detail.

The sooner you send that prepaid return label, the sooner you'll get the item back.

Re: EBay will not talk to the seller! Will not take calls. Takes your money and runs!! Ebay SUCKS!

eBay's final value fees for sellers are clearly detailed so that sellers can read them BEFORE selling.

If you were unaware of the fees, it's because eBay has no way to force you to read them, preferably before you list your items for sale.

eBay's FVF is calculated mainly on the total of the item cost, the shipping fee  and the state sales tax, if applicable plus 40 cents.  PLEASE do some more reading.

If a buyer opens any sort of return not as described, missing parts or pieces, damaged, or defective.
Then you decide to involve eBay.  eBay will not side with you, they will refund the buyer on your dime, eBay will not have the buyer send the item back so the buyer gets to keep the item and you get a lovely consolation prize of a defect for case closed without a seller resolution.
