Do you promote your listings?

I am wondering if it is worth a try. Interested in your opinions.

I promote the most expensive items...10-15% promoted....which the items might not sell for a long period of time.

It gets my items listed under other seller's pages...and perhaps a buyer might look at my items as well as that one seller's item.
