In its latest update, PayPal has added a category to each payment, for examples: Retail, Electronics, Shopping (yes, very descriptive).
Unfortunately, a garage door opener was classified as Books.
Additionally, will PayPal go back and determine a category for every payment since the account was opened?

Sounds like I should get ready for more chargebacks (as if their descriptions are not bad enough on buyers statements).

Perhaps PayPal are taking their cues from descriptions and labelling from China. 😉
I've bought items labelled 'Electronic Parts' (actual content was Barbie doll clothing) and Stationery (actually plastic boxes for old size GameBoy games). I figured the Chinese sellers had decided as long as the labels were in English, any English would do. Either that or there some new kind of heading title randomizer labeller.
Has PayPal outsourced their category sorting system? That's a scary thought.
