Monies are on hold from eBay. I don’t like that……period.
Want to cancel sale.

So you passed up a sale at full price and now relist as OBO. Now how is this going to play out any differently?

"Yes"
Oh, this story just keeps on unfolding, doesn't it?

I believe the answer is yes and the responsibility falls on him to provide figures on his 1040 to exonerate the sale. Not sure what Schedule would be best but there are likely a few with entries for returns to make the adjustment.

(I can't believe you cancelled a successful high dollar sale.)
I can totally understand why the seller canceled the sale. If I was in their position I would have done exactly the same thing. No way I want eBay hanging onto $3K + that as a seller I may never see. Better safe than sorry.
The OP relisted the SAME item today.
Must have been some type of error I don't see it currently listed.

Former professional museum conservator here...
Seller (OP) is begging for a SNAD. The helmet he is selling is nowhere near NRMT condition, as he is claiming... not even close.
