No problem with this - the purchase was made and they paid - but have not picked it up and wanted to cancel a day or two after buying. I've asked them to cancel from their end - (so I'm not getting dinged with canceling orders).
They say they have done it - "I did it on both areas" - but I've seen nothing from Ebay. I'm suspicious to taking any action without Ebay saying to do it. Just making sure this isn't some kind of scam though it appears Ebay is transferring the funds soon.

Since the buyer requested the cancellation, you are allowed to do it without any ding to you.
Go to the order and cancel, choosing the buyer requested as the reason.

eBay gives buyers only 1 hour to cancel items 'officially'. After that, they can only contact the seller to request a cancellation.
As long as you cancel the transaction choosing 'Buyer requests cancellation' ... and there is a message from the buyer showing that to be true ... there is no way you'll get in any trouble.
