Another day another SCAM

Sold a $600 amp and shipped it GSP.  I didn't want to risk it getting damaged so I brought it to UPS and had them professionally pack it and insure it for the full amount of $700.  The buyer took a picture of a TOTALLY DIFFERENT item and claims he didn't get what he ordered.

I'm requesting a photo of the box and label from the buyer.  Is there any chance ebay sent him the wrong box and what if they did not.  What if the buyer is trying to pull a scam?

Re: Another day another SCAM

Thank you for your response.  I wish I would have known this sooner and the people I called at ebay knew what you are telling me now.  I had a frustrating few days on the phone and emailing ebay with this concern.  Thankfully it was rectified .

Re: Another day another SCAM

I doubt that it was a scam...it's more likely that someone at the gsp center goofed up. It is ridiculous that when you first talked to customer service they didn't even suggest that this was a possibility.

HI @holsteinatlanta, the Global Shipping Program will cover mixups like this with no fault to you. Once the item is received at our sort facility in Kentucky, the package is inspected to confirm that the correct item was received safely. If there was an issue that time, you would have been notified. Based on the details you have provided, you will just need to ask eBay to step in once three full business days have passed from the day the return was opened and we will go ahead and get the buyer's concerns resolved without any negative impact to your account. Our Global Shipping Program insures all packages they ship, so will work with the recipient as needed for their investigation. Since your item has now been reshipped, it would likely not qualify for a UPS insurance claim, as this only covers the initial shipment to the sort facility.

So if the GSP gets to work with the recipient for insurance, why doesn't it happen that way when a seller files an insurance claim?

What happens if the buyer doesn't cooperate with the GSP on insurance? Do they get banned from using it? Or does the GSP just say OK - here's your money back regardless?

Hi @d-k_treasures, I apologize for the miscommunication - when I referenced the Global Shipping Program working with the recipient, I was indicating that the seller does not need to pursue any additional steps themselves regarding the insurance. Our Global Shipping Program takes responsibility for any lost, damaged or swapped items through the program and would fund the refund to the buyer. This is a part of the protection offered to our sellers within this program.

If insurance is pursued, this is solely to protect the party responsible for the shipment; either the seller in shipments sent directly to the buyer or the third party shipper for GSP shipments. While it is not a part of our user agreement to require a buyer to cooperate with an insurance claim, we have found that most buyers have no problem providing photos or presenting what they received to the courier once they have received the refund they are entitled to. This cooperation would not be a factor in the refund they receive in any transaction where insurance is pursued. If the claim is denied due to a lack of cooperation from the recipient, eBay can pursue appropriate action at that time.

Again, I am sorry for the confusion my previous response may have caused. The OP referred to the insurance they purchased and I wanted to provide additional information for them to consider in future sales so they are aware that insurance on a GSP sale would only be applicable for transit to the sort facility in Kentucky.

Re: Another day another SCAM

I  know the feeling. I've been with ebay sense 1999. A buyer bought an item from me back in Sept. then at the end of the year he wanted to return it, saying it wasn't what he ordered. Which is **bleep** I've been in the business for over 25 years. He was international but put a shipping address of a shipping company unknown to me in the US, over looking that I don't ship to internationals just because of reasons like this. pay pal awarded him a refund even though I gave then all my information, pictures, and proof of the Originality of the item and what he got, over 90 days ago.  So I'm out over $400. becauce and this scam and even though I have 100% Possitive Feedback with no neutrals or negatives, it didn't mean a d*%# thing.  pay pal's response is they didn't want to deal with his CCard company, so they let me out to dry.  Thanks pay pal and ebay for your support and loyalty.

Re: Another day another SCAM

Totally different issue. You shipped to a reshipper and the buyer filed through PayPal.

The OP's shipment went through GSP.

Always best to start your OWN thread.

Glad you got this resolved, OP

Not every buyer with an issue is a scammer.

Re: Another day another SCAM

moo glad it got resolved. When it's a GSP claim always best to make sure the front line CSR know that and transfer it to a GSP specialist.

Why GSP claims don't get rerouted to them automatically is beyond me given a majority of the eBay CSR don't have clue one when contacted.

Just thought of something..  If GSP checks and inspects items before they ship them to the buyer maybe there can be a similar service for domestic items.

Here's how it might work.

I ship an iPhone X to Domestic Shipping Program  (DSP)  They open it and confirm there is an iPhone X in the box.  The then send the item to the buyer where they can no longer can claim they received a flip phone and not the more expensive iPhone X.  The seller would pay extra for this service but have piece of mind the buyer does not try to rip them off

Because ebay and GSP are hoping you will just eat the cost and not bother to call back a 2nd,...... 3rd, 4th...time  lol

For some......It seems wisdom has been chasing you, but you have always been faster.
