Did you mean:

You would think a return for a defective item would be straightforward

I purchased a Motherboard listed as "New"

Received a motherboard that had missing items, and was non functional (DOA).

I messaged seller for help to get it working or a replacement and was refused.

Motherboard was returned a week later, seller received it on Thursday morning as per UPS Tracking

The next day I asked Ebay to step in as I haven't heard anything since I asked the seller for help

Ebay puts my case on hold? What more could I have possibly done? What exactly needs "Investigating"?

Does the seller really get to keep the item AND my money?

Have you read the eBay Money Back Guarantee with free shipping, @bobjrdobbs? All sellers have 2 business days to refund, after tracking shows the item is delivered back.

If that was Thursday, the seller had

- Friday, the first business day

- Monday, the second business day

to refund.

But preemptively, you asked eBay to step in, so eBay has put your refund on hold for 5 days instead.
