"File a report" site does not work?

Hi all 🙂

I have tried for several days now to "File a report", but the drop down windows for "Report category" etc. does not work. Hence unable to file report. Still running windows 7 but have tried on several pc's in both Explorer and Chrome with the same result. Anybody else have this issue?

Sincerely

Daybear63

Re: "File a report" site does not work?

Same here, the category drop-down menu is empty so I'm getting nowhere. it's been several years since last time I used it. I'm running Firefox on Linux but also tried Vivaldi with the same result.

Re: "File a report" site does not work?

This is the answer I got from Ebay, I tried all suggested solutions without any positive result. The problem is the same 😞

Thank you for emailing eBay. I understand you would like to file a tip report at the same time, you’re unable to do so. Let me check on this.

I will make this quick. I checked on this on our site at the same time, there’s no current issue that unable the member to file a tip report. In situation like this, I suggest that you try to clear cache and cookies. Here’s how:

1.                   Hold down CTRL+ Shift+ Delete.

2.                   The clear history/delete cookies menu should appear with pre-selected boxes to delete temporary internet files (cache AND cookies).

3.                   Click Delete or Clear Browsing Data (button will vary based on browser, see instructions below for specific browser instructions).

Second, you can try to use incognito mode.

Third, you may use another browser and make sure they are in an up to date browser that is one of the supported browsers on the site. The list is here:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/account/browser.html

If you have done these trouble shooting mentioned, please get back to us with the “more information of the item you are referring and on the reason as to why you are reporting them.

This way, we can be able to look further into this and possibly report the seller on your behalf instead.

I am positive that I was able to explain this with you.

Thank you for choosing eBay. We truly value your business with us!

Best Regards,

Re: "File a report" site does not work?

Still not working, and has not for about 14 days now. Maybe it is not that important to Ebay.

Latest answer from Ebay. I will contact them again in a week if not resolved.

Re: "File a report" site does not work?

Still not working, obviously not that important to Ebay. But i just have to "rest assure" that they will fix it sometime, maybe...

Latest answer from Ebay:

Thank you for contacting us back here on eBay. I understand that you are concerned about eBay site as you are unable to file report about several items that you purchased. We are very grateful for your professionalism on handling this case. Rest assured I’ll do my best to assist you on this.

Re: "File a report" site does not work?

Ebay is just a massive piece of **bleep** house!
They want of course no one to report anything, cause they make money on every transaction going trough, including scam.

Its made this way on purpose, it has been so for several years, and they will just tire you with bull**bleep** like "rest assure, we are doing everything we can to help you and solve this matter"
Sounds familiar? Of course it does.
Ebay is the bigger scammer here, and they are in bed with all the shameless sellers.

Re: "File a report" site does not work?

I have not had an issue reporting several items lately using Firefox -- it might be worth trying another browser to see if the problem is browser-related. If not cache or cookies, possibly an extension or add-on conflict or script-blocking issue might prevent you from using the drop-down menus to report an item. I believe you must have javascript enabled to use the reporting functions, and making an exception for ebay.com while script blocking other sites may not be sufficient.

It might also be worth trying to report the item on another country site such as ebay.ca or ebay.co.uk to see if you can report the same item there instead.

Filing a report does not work for me either. You listening, ebay?

Re: "File a report" site does not work?

I had a case cancelled because it would not allow me to go in and take the next steps so it appears I just didn't want to do anything when I actually did. There's no help for this! I'm thinking I may never use Ebay again because of this.

Boy you hit the nail on the head. I use Firefox, and it doesn't work either. Reporting an obvious scam item is meant to spare other members from becoming a victim.

Re: "File a report" site does not work?

Does not work and based on the amount of users that have been reporting over the years, it is by design. Dropdown boxes are not that difficult to do. If they haven't fixed it by now, they have broken it on purpose. I can't remember when was the last time that a simple dropdown box didn't work, on any site.

Re: "File a report" site does not work?

Ebay is obviously doing it on purpose, so that it looks like they have a system for reporting, but making it buggy, so it really doesn't work. March 2021 now, and not working with Chrome or Safari.
