Firefox ESR 60.9.0esr, Debian Buster, Linux 4.19.0-6-amd64
Some coder as of yesterday thought he would implement the ReCAPTCHA from Google to verify I'm not a Bot on login and log-out.
The horrible culprit is privacy.resistFingerprinting setting @ Yes.
I can only imagine the amount of traffic that has been pushed away.
Good idea to contact Google and ask how much has the increase been and the success rate of the puzzles..
Probably best for your minions to look over there code and change this back.
It will impact everything. I'm concerned over the level of knowledge the programmers have if they believe a horrible time wasting catchpa will solve any issues they are having.

The puzzle recaptcha started up again today. And just like last time, I can't access the account section (It continuously asks for my user / pass). I will contact eBay again to see what they say.

Agreed. I don't understand eBay. All of the changes they've made in the past 5 years have all been to its detriment.
Quit trying to chase the hot new site and be what the f#%& you are because, as you know, there are already millions of us making you billions of dollars. Quit "fixing" what isn't broken. And better yet, if you decide to go all DERP, hire some capable people.

The same bug started up again today. eBay's IT department should seriously look into this bug and fix it once in for all. It's starting to look like someone's causing this on purpose.

Me too and i'm sick of doing every time i log in. Not once but twice , get a network failure the first time and have to redo. I use Firefox exclusively.

I thinks it's someone doing it because it goes away when I complaint. I tried it with Google Chrome, Firefox, IE, etc and the same bug is still there. eBay's IT dept should do a thorough trace to see what's causing this because it looks like a hack.

For those that don't know, eBay is now using GeeTest's ReCaptcha (not Google ReCaptcha). GeeTest is a Chinese company that is suppose to protect websites from bot threats. From the looks of it, it's very buggy and causes more problems than help. Many users have complained about this but the problem isn't being fixed because the same problem appears a few months later.
A program that isn't secure becomes a security risk and should be removed.

As of yesterday I started to encounter GeeTest's challenge on login again.
Same IP for ages and still using Linux Stable Firefox Buster.
Having more than one account and using the site daily this is tiresome and redundant.
Please whitelist my IP as I login and do the challenge and then have to login again.

This is nonsense! These challenges do not protect a website. Firewall rules and sound code does. eBay keeps changing things on the fly and not verifying it's work before putting live. I have always checked everything offline and confirmed the integrity of the code before implementing.
It is like a bunch of script kiddies messing with everything on this website. Just look at the problematic threads.
Where are the adults?
Fix this error on the challenges.
Having to login and get challenged and then login again while still using the same IP for years is asinine. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result!

Log into here:
https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Turn off your ad blocker for the login page.
When eBay revamped the login page to include the other unsafe login areas like Facebook, Google and Apple (Never share passwords).
They added JavaScript that is being blocked in the subscription EasyPrivacy which is used by Adblock Plus and Ublock Origin.
This causes the loop and the verification for me.
I use KeePassXC and do not like being able to use auto type!
Please add back the Username and Password on one page.
Better yet PM me a private login page please.

WOW!! Thanks for the info. Each time I get this **bleep** coming up, all the words are in Chinese. I keep thinking that my account was hacked!
06-12-2020 09:38 PM
Agreed!! This garbage is happening to me again with nearly every login for past 2-3 weeks, at least since the login page was changed with all the extra ways to get in (faceook, googlem, etc) none of which I use or ever intend to. I do not even own a smart phone nor use "apps" and am a retired computer specialist of 40 years experience. Phones are, at best, a poor excuse for computing devices and the most user vulnerable way to access internet ever invented (public wifi hots and id theft)! It accounts for way over 70% of the id theft cases via internet. I am using same IP, same Firefox desktop 15 years and they challenge me daily at least.

I had noticed eBay was loading some script but did not pursue what exactly it was blocking.
It appears they are using a 3rd party service PerimeterX to detect if your using a browser or your a bot.
Nonsense.
This is not a quality improvement to prevent defects.
This is troublesome to most users and will steer away anyone using a popular ad-blocker.
Some dude from either the third party or eBay asked for it to be removed from the lists and it was a big NO.

Thanks buyer-2017, you've got to the core of the problem that has been plaguing many of us since October. This all makes sense now.
Worthless client side verification. The illusion of security, bought off the shelf, causing untold annoyance to security and privacy minded end users.
It's amusing that two of the individuals begging to be removed from the EasyPrivacy list, just happen to have usernames which suggest that they are the CEO and CTO of PerimeterX.
