RETURN POLICY ON LISTINGS BOTH AUCTION & GTC HAS BUG - NOT CARRYING OVER IN Listing Tool

Hi I just wanted to warn everyone, as a follow up to my previous post on 3/19

I just discovered several of my recent new auction listings,  like the new GTC 30 I listed Monday also were not showing my Return policy including ones yesterday.  Some in between these days both new auction & GTC did prepopulate in the listing tool and carry over from previous listings.  Most auction relists & BIN >new GTC 30 did have it which is ironic.

Up until 2 weeks ago it did and would carry over from listing to listing or when logging on the next day in listing in Seller Hub - I also have Selling Mgr Pro so I dont know if there is a glitch there - Acct specialist looking into it.

I had been concerned converting mostly to GTC in watch/wait mode hoping for sales and wondering why nothing has been happening despite low views & few bookmarks. So with a portion being non compliant lessens visbility & standing = no sales. I am really angry that I have been affected by this and you may be too. So very important to check ALL of your listings.

The problem is the dashboard> Seller Performance Page turns out also to have an intermittant bug and incorrect data at the bottom - the listing numbers are off - do not equal the amount I actually have active. Acct specialist confirmed this has been intermittent glitch for over 220 days !!!!  It's short and showing one compliant that I cannot figure out.  When you click view listings that is when I discovered the return policy errors in the bulk editor .  I corrected each one, including a few recent older relists that had old errors in handling time which I still think I had fixed before, these also affect visibility.  Then I went back "checked" in box all my 200+ listings and made sure they all had my 30 day return buyer pays and saved - this did NOT correct 1 phantom listing that S Performance page said I have made compliant so its either a glitch in S Performance as specialist confirmed OR it could also be that the Bulk Editing tool isnt working correctly either- I dont have the patience to go through all 200 listings individually to check  but have done 25%.

Take away= Unfortunately you have to pay attention to  Return policy section in each new listing,

recheck all your old relists or sell similars- especially if you are using GTC where as I said before the 5 Return Policy options were not offered - I had to go back and add through the bulk editing tool.

2nd Take Away =Going forward again check your relist and GTC carry overs to make sure ALL data including return policy is carried over as me thinks some of these original recent auction listings had it before the relist and recent fiddling with the site which clearly is unstable !

Last take away - on Seller Performance page  your "selected return policy" does not show. As a top rated seller it is either - compliant = free returns or non compliant but doesnt identify 30 day returns, buyer pays - this is very unfortunate & unhelpful . Added to which,  no column or evidence on my active listing page nor is GTC showing yet on the new mandatory GTC entries  !

Re: RETURN POLICY ON LISTINGS BOTH AUCTION & GTC HAS BUG - NOT CARRYING OVER IN Listing Tool

I have had several of my listings change to GTC but  my return policy has not changed. However I did not let the listings clock run out and manually ended the listings as I wanted to go through them and adjust my shipping and handling fee. Perhaps you should manually end 1 listing then relist it to see if the issue continues. While I have not experienced the issue you are having I did have a problems creating new listings and relisting items were their prefill kept turning on the option to send items to the global shipping program. I had a listing a buyer was interested in that I turned on the option. Then the prefill kept turning on the option and would not refresh and change back on the future listings after I turned it off. For several days I had to keep checking for this even though I do not normally use it. This may be the case for you that the prefill is kicking in and changing your return policy and not changing based off of the last listing you created or updated.

In the mean time it may be good to state your actual return policy in the listings description. That way the buyers will know what your policy is. All of my listings were 30 day but I plan on stopping my listings manually and checking each one for errors or changes as ebays prefill tends to make changes you do not want to both new listings or active listings being relisted. The last thing I want is for almost a month or more to go by and half or all of my listings have drastic changes made to shipping, pricing, or as in your case return issues galore.

The GTC listings are also not retaining their watchers when the duration is switched.

Re: RETURN POLICY ON LISTINGS BOTH AUCTION & GTC HAS BUG - NOT CARRYING OVER IN Listing Tool

Hi - thanks so much for pointing these other things out ! its almost as if every seller has a different version of a big big bug ugh !

I try not to highlight returns within my listing descriptions as I really dont want antiques back nor the risk of damage in shipment from someone that make take advantage of the system and not repack well etc which happened 1- 2 x.

So I like that it normally shows at top in the intial box (on computer version) below price & shipping costs etc

I am willing to take if necessary as I had to for my TR Seller status but now frankly cannot afford to do for free and take a hit and lose any profit etc. so I just agree to the 30 day seller pays and cross myself 3 x and hope I dont get one 🙂  . God knows how it looks on mobile listings its enough to have to click again to read description etc - no wonder low sales - I still have an older app for a specific reason so not sure what the current one looks like and there have been countless bugs since last year.

Interestingly while we are being encouraged to be clear on our return policy there is a line under the tax rules that we are NOT allowed to state anything about taxes in our listings. So for those of us that are dealers registered already in various states and since tax law is tax law in certain situations and in brick and mortar or shows we have to have invoice receipts that clearly state tax rate & what collected it seems totally contradictory. So even if you precheck the tax for certain states, like the one you sell from or if you have a presence in another - because each state is different with different thresholds and Ebay has no idea what sales level we are at outside Ebay I think they are making a big mistake doing the job for the seller - its a forced possible unnecessary tax payment plus how will those payments be meshed with the sales outside of Ebay we  file ourselves electronically. Technically then our sales are then not complete as there is no way to "account" for this separate reporting- if we call it a non taxable sale that wont fly if it it already taxable & paid for - if we count it as taxable sale they would want us to pay tax on it again - it will screw up all our filings !

I dont know why they just wont let the dealers and sellers take responsability for their reporting and let us be grown ups - since they are the agent and we are the sellers - if certain sellers arent paying taxes then the IRS should go after them not the agency in my opinion - I understand the new internet sales tax law that is only pertinent to a few states but it is confusing as the seller is the seller not the agent collecting it in this case

I will be double checking all my listings as I agree it would be horrible to find something changed also part way through its LONG wait for a buyer as the poor buyer has to wait his turn also for our d_ listings to show as like us Ebay is doing their own rotations...

you are welcome - I am glad the other seller shared their discoveries - never a dull moment on Ebay

I feel like I am in the jungle w/ a machete trying to find daylight and watching out for snakes along the way 🙂
