Firefox incessant page updates

Today I've noticed some weird behavior on eBay.  I'm running FireFox (latest version), have just cleared ALL eBay cookies, restarted Firefox, and this is still happening:  After selecting an item to review from a search list, it appears eBay is constantly trying to update the page.  I see the eBay icon in the page tab constantly flickering.  CPU usage of Firefox goes through the roof when this happens.  Anybody have any ideas what is happening?  This just started today.

Same here. I have multiple tabs open. Only eBay is doing the updating/refreshing, and it's every 5 seconds.  Firefox V54, Win10.

Try installing a previous version of Firefox. Perhaps the new one has some bug in it.

Re: Firefox incessant page updates

I don't know if an older version will fix anything but it's something that's easy to test. I use Win10 and an old version of Firefox, version 35.0.1, and don't have your problem or ANY of these tech problems with ebay that I see on these boards. I believe that most of the tech problems I see here are not ebays doing. I believe many are attributed to an anti-virus program, or more likely, a recent Windows Update. Windows updates can cause all kinds of system and browser problems which is why I never bother with them, and I never installed them on 98 or XP either. All they ever seem to do is break things that weren't broken. In Windows 10, updates are downloaded and installed automatically in the background whether you like it or not. Microsoft removed the option to turn Updates off in Win10 because they believe they know better than everyone. FYI: the only way to stop Updates in Win10 from automatically downloading is to first disable the Windows Update Service that runs in the background and then go into the Registry and delete the Windows Update Service key so it doesn't re-enable itself, which it will do if that Registry key is not deleted. Whether anyone wants to do that is up to them.

Win32 and Win64 versions for Firefox version 53

Might want to read this

other older versions

And ignore the warning that older Firefox versions pose a security risk.

Re: Firefox incessant page updates

I've been having the same problem. Win 10 latest FF.

I won't continue using eBay if this continues.  A waste of time.

Re: Firefox incessant page updates

Me too, same problem and I think you are right - it's been since Win10 did that major update recently.  And it must be something to do with Firefox because it doesn't do it in the Microsoft Edge browser. Thanks for the helpful post.
