Help With Hand Numbered Royal Hickman piece

Morning All,

I was hoping someone may be able to help me with a piece of pottery I recently purchased from an estate of a collector.  He was a weathy gentelman with an interesting and unqiue collection of Asian works.  This piece is not glazed, it has the old royal Haeger/Royal Hickman label inside and is hand numbered on the bottom.  I can't find another example online so I'm trying to understand what exactly this is.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Justin

All I found out is that Hickman was at Haeger 1938-44. The numbers fit with the stuff in the 1938-40 catalog in David Dilley's book, but this plaque ? isn't shown.

Thank you for looking into that for me. Im confused why it is hand numbered. Could it have been a prototype or never produced commercially? Also, what was it intended for?

I see you found a facebook group--I was going to suggest that next! I went right past the picture in the Paradis book because the angle is different, but I think they nailed it for you.
