Does anyone recognize this backstamp?

I believe this is a French backstamp from the late 19th or early 20th centuries. Does anyone have any knowledge about them? I appreciate any assistance. Thanks.

the number is a british design registration number from 1890.  I don't recognize the initials.

Thank you so much for your response. It provides me with a starting place. I have a cousin who lives in Leeds, UK and I'll ask her to see what she can find about it.

More pictures of the cup and saucer might help identify the pattern and go at it from there.  The replacements company has an image search.
