Troubleshooting for a friend, heat and AC

So she says "How come my vents blow cool air at a stop but when I am moving I get warm air?". This is in Canuckistan, late fall, when, heat is a good thing.

I start running through trouble shooting, and then, she says "This has been happening for a year or so".

I simply ended the conversation.

Re: Troubleshooting for a friend, heat and AC

When I got the Ford exploder, the gal thought she had a cracked block.

But it was a 5 buck water check valve.

Then the thermostat was froze, so there was no heat.

At a stop, your friend would have no heat, but running down the road, she would.

Down here in the states we put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator.

But I may have that backwards.

Re: Troubleshooting for a friend, heat and AC

She is a very nice lady. Not real high on responsibility, for anything. "The Boxer" lyrics, slightly altered came to mind:

"I have squandered my existence for a pocketful of mumbles - such are promises:
All lies and jest, still a woman hears what she wants to hear
and disregards the rest"

Such is her existence. To try to get through to her? Far too late.

She has a total disregard for any sort of maintenance.

Re: Troubleshooting for a friend, heat and AC

This usually means a vacuum leak somewhere. If the car has a one-way valve it's possible that could have failed.

They're usually located on the firewall and are dirt cheap and easy to buy and replace if needed.

Or it could just be low on antifreeze.
