Sorry, but eBay can't stop you from tracking your purchases, unless the seller didn't ship with a tracking number.
Have you tried copying the tracking number and pasting it into your devices web browser? Or better yet, skip the app and log into your account in a web browser.

Can you explain what happened when you tried to track your package?
There is no way eBay can do that provided there is tracking information available.

Ebay has been experiencing indeterminate lags in updating tracking, assuming the seller shipped, and shipped with a supported carrier, and entered the correct tracking number, you should be able to track on the carrier's website.
Since you posted on the mobile apps section, there is a possibility that this is a new failure in the ever disappointing mobile apps.
