Android app not supported on older systems

If you have been notified that your eBay app is no longer supported here are some steps to get the latest version onto your device. To get the most up to date version you need to have Android 6 or higher on your device.

Android 6 and up get the latest version from the Google Play store

Android 5 get an older version from the Google Play store and we recommend you upgrade your system to Android 5.1.1.

Android 4 and below we recommend using the Chrome browser and visit ebay.com.

If there are difficulties getting the update to download please try the following:

Thank you

Yes as i said in my post, I cannot access ebay via my wifi only on this phone, android 8.1.0, using chrome browser or Opera browser.

That would seem to indicate a problem with your wifi connection on your new phone. You might try disconnecting your phone from your wifi network, and connecting again.

If that does not help, try "forgetting" that connection, and set that connection up again from scratch.

Re: Android app version no longer supported

I can access facebook, or youtube, or any of those sites on my phone on the wifi, it is not my wifi, it is your app.  How will you fix this so i can access my ebay account?

thank you

it is not my wifi, it is your app.

If you are unable to reach eBay.com using Opera or Chrome, that has nothing to do with the app.

And it is not my app, it is eBay's app. I can suggest things for you to try, but I cannot fix it for you.

Re: Android app version no longer supported

Um, let me see, so you are not ebay?

You said my wifi was not connected, i said yes it is because. blah blah blah..  why are you so snarky now?  very curious.

I was going to thank you for replying so quickly till i read your snarky reply to me?  perhaps you are in a bad mood?  im sorry if you are.

So, neither the app nor chrome or opera can log into ebay.com over wifi.  My wifi is fine, and i can log into many other places.  everything is current and up to date.

how do i contact ebay then for help with their, not your app?

We are reading along with the posts and are going to look into this.

1.  Delete app, restart device, reinstall app

2. Does the app work on cellular?

3. Does the app work on wifi?

Can you please share a screen shot of what the app is doing when it is not working for you.

Re: Android app version no longer supported

I cannot login on wifi via a browser at all, yet i can on any of my other devices.  Android code is the same across platforms.  You need to fix your code.

Work on cellular : NO  it text me the code, i input it and nothing happens.  Period.  If i hit continue a couple times, it will just go to the signin screen again.

With either wifi or data:  when i land on the site, i get this and must grab from the side menu to click the signin:

On wifi i just get the pic with the blue circle until death due us part!

Thanks for the extra information and screen shots.

Before trying to sign in, if you tap on the deals or categories button at the top of the screen do those items load?

If you tap into the search are you able to search?

Are you running through a VPN?

Thanks

Re: Android app version no longer supported

VPN sometimes.  although turned off when trying to access with phone.

Entered a search question and hit the arrow to find, does nothing, doesnt even try to find it.  Clicking a catagory on the bar gives new screen, no bar, and the blue circle wheel.

Re: Android app version no longer supported

@cherington_metalcraft

I have the exact same issue. My main phone is a Galaxy S7 Edge, which is fine, but my secondary phone is a Galaxy S4 which will no longer let me use the app. The old app worked. The new app is not compatible with a Galaxy S4.

Why not keep the old app working?
