Vehicle Purchasing Question

Good afternoon.  I am sending this out to hopefully receive some information regarding a possible car purchase.

I have been in contact with a person selling a car not on eBay.  This person states that all financial obligation will be handled through eBay.  She wants my full name, home address and phone number to begin the financial transaction.  Supposedly, she says the she will contact eBay and they will in turn contact me we down payment and remaining funding portion on my part.

I have  never made this type of transaction through eBay, although I have made numerous transaction on past purchases.  I am a somewhat skeptical and need to know if this type of thing is legitimate and takes place on a routine basis.

Any information and support would be greatly appreciated.
