I`d use vinegar and a soft toothbrush primarily on the chain. Just be careful around the cameo.
That is one yummy necklace!

I slather the ketchup, wrap it up in plastic so it doesn't dry out, and set a time for 30 minutes. Then I wash it off with soap and water and see if I have to let it go longer. But that's just me
I agree, whatevery you use, don't get it on the cameo!

Thanks everyone, going to try all of the above and report back with results in the morning 🙂
Would you polish it or leave it to whomever ?

I think the patinated look is rather nice, so I wouldn't polish the whole thing either.
Ok, I know this is going to be a tad contentious, but sometimes in cases like this when it's just base metal, with no rhinestones, I use toothpaste and a toothbrush to get rid of the really stubborn verdigris.
Now the problem is that it could end up making those sections of the metal quite a bit lighter than the rest of the chain, but seriously, who wants that nasty green stuff on this lovely piece?
I would only try this if other methods. ie ketchup etc fail. A last resort.
I think this is a super necklace and deserves to be greenie free.

So my lady and I have been bathing in ketchup,,dabbled in vinegar,,and I'm almost ready to give up , while it's coming off just a wee bit,,,,I just don't know 😞
I took a break from cleaning and went off wondering into black cameo world,,OMG how huge it is, and this "style girl" is very popular.
I seen her on some Whiting and Davis,,and the same girl listed as bakelite??
So far I'm thinking maybe Czech,,,because of the style of the wavy lines....on both the spacers on the chains and around the cameo itelf.
Oh and here's a picture of the back too ...

For the Maker maybe try searching Vintage Festoon/Swag Cameo Necklace.

Thanks OCN,,I've been looking at those, I can't seem to find any cameo's with the box clasp.
I've tried festoon, swag, bib, brass, gilt, black cameo, Czech cameo, Gold on brass cameo amoung a dozen others.
I seen a Monet festoon with almost the same kinda dangles....box clasp too
And the mystery lives on...
